AnSwer :-

Let the partial pressure of H_2 in the vessel be p\sf _{H_2}

Now,

According to Question

  • initial pressure, p_1 = 0.8bar
  • final pressure, p_2 = p\sf _{H_{2}}
  • initial Velocity, v_1 = 0.5L
  • final velocity, v_2 = 1L

It is known that,

• p_1V_1 = p_2V_2

➠ p_2 = p_1V_1 /v_2

➠ p\sf _{H_2} = 0.8 × 0.5/1

➠ p\sf _{H_2} = 0.4bar

Now, let the partial pressure of O_2 in the vessel be p\sf _{O_2}

According to Question,

  • initial pressure, p_1 = 0.7 bar
  • final pressure, p_2 = p\sf _{O_2}
  • initial velocity, V_1 = 2.0 L
  • final velocity, V_2 = 1L

we know that,

• p_1V_1 = p_2V_2

➠ p_2 = p_1V_1 /v_2

➠ p\sf _{O_2} = 0.7 × 20 /1

➠ p\sf _{O_2} = 1.4bar

Total pressure of the gas mixture in the vessel can be obtained as :-

p\sf _{total} = p\sf _{H_2} + p\sf _{O_2}

= 0.4 + 1.4

= 1.8 bar

Hence, the total pressure of the gaseous mixture in the vessel is 1.8bar.
