Zinc and hydrochloric acid can be used to reduce nitrobenzene to aniline (also known as aminobenzene). Aniline is C6H5NH2. The reaction is:
C6H5NO2 + 3 Zn + 6 H^+ → C6H5NH2 + 3 Zn^2+ + 2 H2O
