Let, the capacity of each vessel is x.
Petrol and kerosene in the ratio 4 : 1 means, Out of 5 units of mixture, 4 are of petrol and one is of kerosene.
In the first vessel, petrol is 4/5th and kerosene is 1/5th of x.
In the second vessel, petrol is 5/7th and kerosene is 2/7th of x.
In the third vessel, petrol is 6/7th and kerosene is 1/7th of x.
After mixing,
Quantity of petrol = (4x/5) + (5x/7) + (6x/7) = 83x/35
Quantity of kerosene = (x/5) + (2x/7) + (x/7) = 22x/35
So, ratio of petrol to kerosene
=83/35÷22÷35
=83/22
