As moving across a period, there is an increase in the number of electrons and protons but the electrons get added to the same shell, thus the electrons get more attracted by the larger number of protons , the outermost orbital gets near to the nucleus and hence the distance between the nucleus and outermost orbital decreases.

This in turn decreases the atomic radii of the element from moving across a period till 18th group.
