What will be the resultant force when two forces of 3N and 2N act on an object:

a) in the same direction.
b) in the opposite direction.

If they act in same direction they add up to form a resultant force.so, Fr = 3+2 = 5N

If they act in opposite directions .Their +ve difference is the force acting on it in direction of greater force.so, Fr = 3-2 =1N
