At temperature above its melting point it is completely miscible with most of the non-hydroxylic solvents such as light petroleum, benzene, carbon tetrachloride etc. ... Any hydrocarbon (e.g. pentane, hexane, heptane) or non polar solvent will dissolve oil as will many slightly polar compounds like diethyl ether
