What will be the speed of an artificial satellite orbiting the earth at a
distance of 8400 km from the centre of earth and taking 2 hours for each
revolution? What will be the displacement of the artificial satellite at the end of 3 hrs? What will be the distance travelled by the artificial satellite at the end of 4 hours?

Answer:

Speed = Distance ÷ Time

1st question answer)

8400 ÷ 2 = 4200

Speed = 4200 per hour

2nd question answer)

Distance per hour = 4200

Displacement of the satellite after 3 hours = 4200 x 3

                                                                       = 12,600

3rd question answer)

Distance per hour = 4200

Distance travelled by satellite at the end of 4 hours = 4200 x 4

                                                                                      = 16,800

Hope it helps! Thank you!

Given :  an artificial satellite orbiting the earth at a distance of 8400 km from the centre of earth and taking 2 hours for each revolution

To Find :  Speed of Satellite

The displacement of the artificial satellite at the end of 3 hrs What will be the distance travelled by the artificial satellite at the end of 4 hours

Solution:

Distance covered in one revolution = 2 π R

R = 8400 km

= 2 (22/7) * 8400

= 44 * 1200

= 52800 km

Time = 2 hrs

Speed = 52800/2  = 26400 km/hr

in 3 hrs one and half revolutions  will be completed  hence Satellite will be just opposite

Hence Displacement = 2R = 2 * 8400  = 16800 km

distance travelled by the artificial satellite at the end of 4 hours

= 2 revolutions

= 2 * 52800 km

= 105600  km
