whole no's are no's starting from 1 till infinity.
now,
1+2+3+........+40
here,
a=1, d=2-1=1
now,
40=a+(n-1)d
40=1+n-1
so,n=40
and we know
Sn=n/2[2a+(n-1)d]
Therefore,
S40=40/2[2(1) +(40-1)(1)]
S40=20(2+39)
S40=20(41)
S40=820....
