In satellites, the effective value of gravitational acceleration g(eff.) is zero. So when you put value of g(eff.) in equation of TIME PERIOD you can't calculate it. It is undefined. So it means that oscillations are not possible in satellites.

Reason is simple because as the effective gravitational acceleration is zero there, gravitational force also becomes zero. So when you try to take the bob at certain height and then drop it, it doesn't move down unless you push it downwards.

So you may have been wondering that why I used the term effective gravitational acceleration. So reason is, when satellites are moving around any planets gravity is actually present there. But when they are moving around any planet, they are in the state of free fall. So as you may know, in free fall effective gravitational acceleration's value is zero, there is zero gravitational force.

So in satellites pendulum doesn't oscillate and at that time its time period is undefined. ( for every pendulum, also for second pendulum)

Hope this may help you..
