The total energy of a system is conserved.

The total energy of a system at a given time can be stated as the sum of Kinetic energy, Potential energy and internal energy.

In physics internal energy is ignored as we deal with the physical state which covers only kinetic and potential energies but in chemistry internal energy is too counted as we deal with chemical state of matter.

Final answer

Kinetic energy +Potential energy=TOTAL ENERGY
