What will be the value of maximum acceleration
of the truck in the forward direction so that the blod
kept on the back does not topple ?
(1) ag/h
(2) hg/a
(3) ag/2h
(4) h/bg

Answer:

Do you mean block ?

For maximum acceleration balance the torque around point c

mg(  \frac{a}{2} ) - m \alpha h = 0 \\  \alpha h =  \frac{ga}{2}  \\  \alpha  =  \frac{gh}{2a}

Option (3) is right. The maximum value of the acceleration is \frac{ag}{2h}.

Explanation:

The block experience an anticlockwise torque when the truck accelerate to forward direction. This torque is gonna be canceled by its self weight.

Torque on the block =  torque due to truck on block

             ⇒ m x g x \frac{a}{2} = m x A x h

             ⇒ A = \frac{ag}{2h}

where, g is the acceleration due to gravity,

            h is the height of block,

           A is the maximum acceleration of truck,

           a is the acceleration on the block,

           m is the mass of block.
