the value of x would be 10

Given

  • pythagorean triplet
  • (6,8,X)

To find

  • the value of 'x'

solution

we are provided with a two number and variable as the third number and are given a condition that the three should form the Pythagorean triplet. then we are asked to estimate the value of the variable.

we know that for the any three numbers to form the Pythagorean triplet the sum of the squares of the two number must be equal to the square of the third number.

That is if P, Q and R are Pythagorean triplet numbers then,

P^2 + Q^2 = R^2

Therefore, from this concept we can estimate the value of the variable x as provided in the question.

according to the condition,

x^2 = 6^2 + 8^2

or, x^2 = 36 + 64

ot, x^2 = 100

or, x = √100 ( taking square roots from the both side)

or, x = 10

therefore, the value of x would be 10
