i have a one word answer for you to destroy.
Answer:
Case 1: World War 3 breaks out.
In present geopolitical scenario world war is likely to break out if the following active conflicts escalate:
- Syria (Most likely)
- Ukraine (Russia- US)
- North Korea- South Korea/US
- Jammu & Kashmir/ Pakistan-India-China
- China-Taiwan/ Japan/ US
- Isreal-Iran/Arab
- Russia-US
- 9/11 type attack by a terrorist organisation
In case World War 3 breaks out the sole purpose of existence of UN will be defeated. It is highley unlikely that UN will deploy it’s peace keeping forces to actively participate in the conflict. Countries (like India, Pakistan and Bangladesh) who contribute maximum manpower to UN Missions will, in all likelihood, call back troops to defend their own territory.
UN can and will actively use it’s forum to deter warring parties from using Nuclear Warheads. It’s various aid agencies will work to bring relief for civilians affected by War. It is imperative to note that the contribution of funds to UN by member states may dry up as the countries will wish to use the funds for their own military.
UN activities will be seriously hampered if the manpower and aid contributions are cut. However, UN will remain our best hope to prevent nations from using Nuclear weapons. As a world forum it will provide an opportunity for member states to come together and find a solution to their differences.
Case 2: Alien attack.
- Response to alien attack will largely depend on the location of the attack.
- Attack on USA, Russia, China, etc will face resistance from the military of the affected country. UN may or may not get involved in the military conflict.
- Attack on a NATO member state will face resistance from NATO forces. With the combined military might of US, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and others NATO forces are best equipped to resist the alien invasion.
- In case of an attack on a country like Nigeria, Congo, Sudan who don’t have a strong military to defend itself UN Peace Keeping force may get involved in securing it’s borders and saving its population.
- UN may take central leadership position in providing aid to affected countries and bringing countries together to join their forces and resist the attack.
