A beam of light will pass straight without scattering in case of true solution. When the suspension is settled it will not disperse the beam of light flashed on it but when the suspension is not settled the beam of light scatter and the path of light will become visible.

If a light beam passes through a true solution, it will not be dispersed because the particles are too small to scatter light. But in a suspension however, the particles are big enough to disperse light. This effect is known as Tyndall Effect.
