1. When salt is applied to raw mango, the water level in the mango will be reduced and the fruit will be dehydrated, which means that it will become hard and dry. This happens because of the phenomenon of Osmosis wherein water moves from low concentration region to higher concentration region to maintain the equilibrium.

2. When you stay for a long time in a pool or a bath, the water penetrates the outer layer of the skin and causes the skin to become waterlogged. Thus the fingers become wrinkly. The skin is covered with Sebum, a special oil, which is washed away due to prolonged stay in water. The water then forces its way into the skin. This is again the phenomenon of Osmosis at work.

3. We rinse our mouths with salt water to ease the swelling in the gums since the saline waters pulls out the fluid from inside the gums due to the process of Osmosis and thus the swelling is reduced, killing the harmful bacteria.
