Answer

a) When a bone is dropped in HCl medium, the calcium of bone slowly starts dissolve due to the action of strong acid. Afterwards the bone is depleted of calcium but it does not "melt" because there are other minerals that make up the bone such as potassium, vitamins and collagen.

b) When the bone is burned, heat dehydrates the bone, driving out the water and destroying the collagen structure. Burning bones are subjected to heat induced expansion and shrinkage, and the existence of a thermal gradient, depending on the location of a specific bone in the resulting fire.

Hope this answer helps you mate.

Answer:

When a bone is dropped in HCl medium, the calcium of bone slowly starts dissolve due to the action of strong acid. HCl + Ca -> CaCl2 + H2. Afterwards the bone is depleted of calcium but it does not "melt" because there are other minerals that make up the bone such as potassium, vitamins and collagen.
