If a raincoat is made from cotton fabric, it will fail to fulfil its main work for which it is used,i.e., saving a person from getting wet.

The main function of raincoat is to save a person from getting wet and that is why it is made from a material which is water-resistant. Cotton, on the other hand, isn't water-resistant and soaks water.

Answer:

A raincoat is generally comprised of vinyl with the goal that the water will not be consumed by it. Therefore the waterproof shell with cotton texture will retain more water and make the individual wet. Cotton enables the water to go through it, yet vinyl won't allow the water to go through it, which causes us not getting drenched in the rain.

It will hold the water in it, and in this manner, the parka won't shield you from the downpour, yet it will make you wet.
