when sodium bicarbonate or sodium hydrogen carbonate is heated it breaks into sodium carbonate, water carbon dioxide.

2NaHCO3(when heated up) = Na2CO3+H2O+CO2.

this is used to form washing soda(Na2CO3•10H2O) from baking soda or sodium bicarbonate
