QUESTION :

What will happen if –

(a) The habitat of an animal is disturbed.

(b) The top layer of soil is exposed.

ANSWER :

(a) Answer : If the habitat of an animal is disturbed, it will not leave properly and that animal will not have shelter to live and they will not be able to get their food, and if they will not able to get their food from inside then they will rush from forest to city, so that they could get food and shelter, actually they may get some foods but they will not get shelter as the city head full of pollution from early morning to night the work usually used to happen, they will not get water to drink as water is used in factories and for household course, for drinking...etc,. and there is a crisis of pure water, shelter and many thing in cities for animals. If they won't run according to their habitat some days they will live and after that they will surely die.

(b) Answer : If the top layer of soil is exposed then there will be the formation / taking place of soil erosion in the soil, the removal of topsoil from the layer of soil is known as soil erosion, this soil erosion is very much harmful for the soil and the plants growing there. These soil erosion will not let any any plant grow there, and the place will become barren land, as it won't let any plants grow there, that's soil will be useless, the plant growing their will not get water as after the soil erosion take places in soil then soil want to absorb any water and plant will not get any water, hence if the top layer of soil is exposed then there will be no plants surviving there and the land will become useless (barren land).

What is habitat ?

The routine and the way of living of an animal / human being is known as habitat.

  • Example as 'animal can only live in forest, not in cities because when they will leave in city they will not be able to survive and hence they will be no long surviving, they will die. This example shows how animal has an habitat of living in forest.

What is soil erosion ?

The removal of top layer from the soil is known as soil erosion.

What are the causes of soil erosion ?

The causes of soil erosion are agents of degradation, the examples of agents of degradation are as follows :

  • Wind
  • Water

What is the top layer of the soil ?

There are some of the horizones present in soil, they are as follows :

  • O horizon
  • B horizon
  • C horizon
  • A horizon

These horizones are present in the soil to show the layers of the soil that they are weather

– bedrock (last layer of the soil)

– topsoil (front layer of the)

– Sub soil (middle layer of the soil), etc,.

Question:

What will happen if

  • (a) the habitat of an animal is distributed

  • (b) the top layer of soil is exposed

Answers:

⠀⠀

a) The habitat of an animal is disturbed,

⠀⠀

As the habitat of an animal provides many facilities like providing food , shelter and protection too. Then, if the habitat of an animal is disturbed then it will lead to the extinction and may damage the food chain. If it won't be able get food and shelter then it will be forced to move from one place to another in search of food and shelter and it won't get then it will die and if it will not be able to get protection then it will be killed by someone .

⠀⠀

(b) the top layer of soil is exposed

⠀⠀

If the top layer of soil is exposed it will lead to soil erosion which is called the removal of the top layer of the soil by wind or water. The land will become barren or infertile and simply the soil will loose its fertility and if the land will become barren due to exposure of top soil then also it will lead to the destruction of plants as the plants will not be able to germinate and grow.

Additionally:

  • A habitat is a place where an organism lives. Example - Fish lives in water.

  • Different types of habitat are - Forest habitat, Aquatic habitat, Desert habitat, Grassland habitat and Polar habitat.

  • Soil is the uppermost layer of the earth's crust. Soil helps plants to grow.

  • There are 3 different types of soil-

  1. Sandy soil
  2. Clayey soil
  3. Loamy soil

  • Soil profile which is the vertical section that shows different layers of soil. We call each layer of soil as horizon.

  • Layers/horizons of soil are-

  1. A- horizon or Top soil
  2. B-horizon or Subsoil
  3. C-horizon or Parent rock
  4. D-horizon or Bed rock.
