First of all...diaphragm is not in the lungs but below the lungs....The diaphragm supports the inflation of the lungs as you breath in. If your diaphragm gets ruptured, the inflation of your lungs is no longer supported. So, when you breath in...the inflation of the lungs is no longer gradual.
