The function of the epiglottis is that it allows air to pass through the larynx and into the rest of the respiration system .When swallowing food or drink , it covrrs the entrance to the larynx to prevent food and drink from entering the treachea .

if it is not present then food or maybe drink enter in the treachea and block it which cause choking and then due not able to respire will we going to die .
