Ethanol reacts with Ethanoic acid in the presence of a mineral acid to form esters.This reaction is called esterification. 
C2H5OH  +  CH3COOH  ------>  CH3CO2C2H5  +  H2O
Ethanol     +  Ethanoic acid ----->  Ethyl ethanoate + water.

in this reaction a sweet smelling substance called ester will be formed; this is know as esterification
CH3CH2OH + CH3COOH =====> CH3COOC2H5 +H2O
