If excess bleeding starts and not taken care in time it can lead to death . The natural way of stopping it is a complex mechanism in short called coagulation.
Coagulation is a chemical process which cause the blood to clot at the site of cut . The fibrinogen is converted into fibrin that's a protein which accumulates on the surface of cut and starts trapping dead cells in it which leads to the formation of hard black brown cover on the cut .
Hope this helps .
