Like gold, Bitcoin cannot simply be created arbitrarily. In fact, there are only 21 million Bitcoins that can be mined in total. Once miners have unlocked this many Bitcoins, the planet's supply will essentially be tapped out, unless Bitcoin's protocol is changed to allow for a larger supply.

The environmental impact of mining includes erosion in the environment, formation of sinkholes, loss of biodiversity, and contamination of soil, groundwater, and surface water by chemicals from mining processes. In urbanised environments mining may produce noise pollution, dust pollution and visual pollution.
So if it is not controlled, it will lead to lots of barren land and lack of groundwater and soon there wouldnt be enough water to drink. All kinds of pollution would take place and we will lose many valuable resources such as fertile soil
