As we know that In stomach gastric glands are present which secretes not only mucus but Hcl and pepsin tooo...

And Hcl is an acid which makes the medium acidic and if mucus is not secreted by the walls of stomach it may damage the walls of stomach.

What will damage?

The HCL acid secreted by gastric gland....

  • The walls of stomach can be affected or burnt by the Hydrochloric acid (HCl) present in the stomach.
  • The cells of the stomach will be damaged due to action of HCl in stomach.
  • Stomach will not allows the easy sliding of food.
  • The bacteria will not be killed which can affect our stomach and make infections in stomach.
  • Mucus helps digestive tract to act but if there is absence of mucus then digestive tract will not acts.
