If (for example) paralysis of the muscles of the intestines occurred after a big feast, the lack of peristalsis would leave the intestines passive and full of partially digested food, from which only a small amount of reabsorption of water would occur. The gut would then be blocked and you would have "the mother of all cases" of constipation! There might be some vomiting, and your abdomen would be very uncomfortable, and later, painful, and you would have a monstrous headache. It would be no fun going for a walk. Your body would be yearning for food, although your abdomen was full of what was originally nourishment. Liver function would be gravely affected, and you would eventually die (but I am not sure of the mechanism of these two effects).
