as we know plasma membrane behaves like a cell boundary so, in case if it breaks down then the components of cell along with intracellular fluid will start coming out of cell leading to death of cell.

Plasma membrane is a selectively permeable membrane that allows the entry of only some selected substances inside the cell body. If plasma membrane will repture out breakdown then every thing that is in surrounding of the cell will enter inside. Not only this, but the protoplasm will go outside the cell.
