If producers are removed from a food chain, the entire food chain will collpase.

  • The producers are the organisms which bring energy into a food chain.
  • Every food chain begins with producers, if producers are not there then there will be no energy for any of the other organisms.
  • Producers capture light energy from the Sun and transform it into usable food form. None of the other animals can perform this act.
  • Hence, the entire food chain would collapse if producers are not their in the food chain.

The removal of the producers would cause the collapse of the entire food web. Primary consumers or herbivores, which feed on producers directly, would die off. ... Higher level consumers would suffer as organisms from lower trophic levels start to die off.
