Tissue culture is the process of production of new plants from a small piece of plant tissues or cells that are removed from the growing tips of a plant and placed in a suitable growth medium.

This process can be used in the propagation of plants.

Three advantages of such propagation are as follows:

(i) The new plants produced by tissue culture are disease free.

(ii) Tissue culture is a very fast technique. Thousands of plantlets can be produced in a small amount of time.

(iii) Tissue culture method requires very less space.
