If the bottom surface of the leaf is coated with Vaseline , the stomata would get blocked which would further lead to the prevention of gas exchange and transportation .

Vaseline acts as a blockage of pores.
We know that stomata are generally present on lower epidermis of the leaves.
Hence applying Vaseline over their will cause :
1. Blockage of stomata, resulting to transpiration.
2. No conduction of water by xylem.
