If we keep a plant cell or animal cell in the hypotonic solution, The cell will swell up because the concentration of water in the solution is more. Hence Endosmosis will take place.

The plant or animal cell when kept in hypotonic solution they swell up because the water molecules present outside the cell have more concentration as compared to the water molecules in the cell. We know the osmosis is the process by which the water molecules moves from the region of higher concentration through the semi-permiable membrane to the region where the concentration is low. So the water moves inside the plant/animal cell.hence the cell would gain water and swell up.
