what will happen if we keep a plant cell or animal cell in hypotonic solution ?

↪️ When the plant cell is placed in a hypotonic solution -

  • it takes up water by osmosis and starts to swell, but the cell wall prevents it from bursting.
  • The plant cell is said to have become "turgid" that is swollen and hard.
  • The pressure inside the cell rises until this internal pressure is equal to the pressure outside.
  • if the water continues to move into the cell, it can stretch the cell membrane to the point the cell bursts (lyses) and dies .

Hope it's helpful for you .
