What will happen if we put baking soda insted of bakng powder for making cake?

in backing powder a mild base will be added so as to nuetralise the base formed on heating of backing soda

if backing soda is added then no acid will be there to nuetrlise so a false taste will be there

2 NaHCO3 (s) ------------>Na2CO3 (s) + H2 O(g) + CO2 (g)

                        ( heat)
