Cotton is not as strong as nylon, the material mostly used, in terms of tensile strength. Cotton, as compared to nylon can easily snap and that is why it is not used. Cotton is also more expensive and can easily get soaked in rainy or humid conditions. This can make it heavy unable to land the parachutist safely or calmly. One more reason why cotton might not be used is because it is not as light as nylon and covers more space in terms of packaging.

Answer:

Cotton ropes should not be used in preparing parachute or the ropes in a parachute.

Explanation:

1) Cotton becomes porous due to high wind. So,if cotton is used to make parachute it becomes porous and goes down quickly.

2) Ropes used in parachute should be very strong and tensile to be lifted along with the parachute offending gravity . Therefore we use nylon ropes as ropes in parachute.
