is xylem get damaged in a branch of tree then the conduction of water from the roots to the upper part of the plant wouldn't be done water is needed for the metabolic reactions which are happening in the plants for making glucose which is necessary for doing transportation of food to the needed part or damage part of the plant

If the xylem tissue gets damaged in the cell then the transportation of material such as water and the dissolved mineral of water would not be reaching to all other part that are need of the water and minerals.

If there is no supply of water the plant would automatically die
