What will happen in the cell, when it is kept in hypotonic and hypertonic solution??

in hypotonic the concentration of solution is more than the cell thus water will move from solution to cell I. e. higher to lower concentration and the cell will swell up. and in hypertonic solution the concentration of ater is less in solution than cell thus water will move from cell to solution and cell will shrink.

Hypertonic- the cell will shrivel up because the water is leaving the cell.


Hypotonic- the cell will swell with water and eventually burst
