What will happen to a cell dipped in a solution of sugar or salt in water

when a cell is dipped in solution of salt or water it will form hypotonic osmosis solution. As Salt or sugar starts move into the cell and cell get swallowen.

If a living cell is placed in a solution with a lower water potential (such as concentrated solution of sugar and salt) than the water potential of the cell, water will move out of the cell due to osmosis. When this occurs the cytoplasm of the cell shrinks in volume - due to water loss.
