what will happen to a compass needle when the compass is placed below a wire needle parallel to it and a current is made to flow through the wire ? give reason

the compass needle will show some deflection because current passing wire has always magnetic field arond it

The compass needle shows deflection.  This happens because when the current is passed through the wire, a magnetic field is produced around the conductor due to which the compass needle gets deflected.
