A marine fish has a high concentration of salt inside its body, I.e., its body is hypertonic than the water of the aquarium. Thus, water flows from the aquarium to the body of the fish due to endosmosis. Thus the fish turns turgid, so it may blast.

This is the explanation and I don't know for how many hours it can live. Maybe the time limit is 2 hours. Consult the net.

Answer:

If a marine fish is placed in a freshwater aquarium, fish would not be able to survive because fishes are adapted to sea water, fishes body are hypertonic but when water moves to an aquarium it becomes hypotonic. They are unable to regulate the metabolic process in the changed environment and they die.
