Answer:-

What will happen to area of :

  • a) Square when side is doubled?

=> We know that:-

  • Area of a square = a² [Where a = side]

If the side is doubled then,

  • New side = 2 × a = 2a
  • New area = (2a)² = 4a²

Hence, if the side of a square is doubled then the area becomes 4 times of the original.

  • b) Rectangle length and breadth is doubled

=> We know that:-

  • Area of a rectangle = lb [Where l = length, b = breadth]

If length and breadth is doubled then,

  • New length = 2 × l = 2l
  • New breadth = 2 × b = 2b
  • New area = 2l × 2b = 4lb

Hence, if the side of a square is doubled then the area becomes 4 times of the original.
