The area will be 6 times more than the  area of the old rectangle.
for example , take a rectangle with the l= 4cm and b= 2cm
then the double l = 8cm and the tripled b = 6cm
area of old rectangle = 4x 2 = 8cm
area of new rectangle = 8 x 6 = 48cm
48/8 = 6
therefore 6 times more.
