Answer:

originally area will be xy if length is x and breadth is y

now acc to the situation if length is doubled i.e 2x and breadth is half i.e y/2....

area will be l×b

2x ×y/2=xy

area will remain the same i.e xy

What will happen to the area of rectangle if its length is doubled and breadth is halved?

║⊕ANSWER⊕║

Let the length be x and breath be y.

As length is doubled so let it be represented as 2x

and breath is half so the breadth can be represented as ½y

Now,

Area of rectangle = l × B

                               = 2x × ½y

                                = x * y

ASSUME

x =5 cm and y = 4 cm

Area = 20 cm²

But if length is doubled and breath is half so,

l = 10 cm and B = 2 cm

Area of rectangle = 10 * 2 = 20 cm

∴ There is NO CHANGE in the area of a rectangle if we double its length and also reduce its width by one-half.
