what will happen to the contents of the destination cell if you copy the content of source cell into the destination cell

If someone copy the contents of the source cell into the destination cell, the original contents ,which is in the destination cell will be substituted by the copied content. As a result, both the source cell and destination cell will have the equal content. Once the copy process finished and the workbook is saved, there will be no process to retrieve the original contents of the destination cell. THANKS
