Guard cells control the opening land closing of stomata. ... when water flows into the guard cells from the neighbouring epidermal cells they swell i.e. become turgid and becone curved and cause the opening of stomatal pore . when the guard cells lose water tey shrink become straight and cause the closure of stomatal pore.
