volume of cube = (edge)^3

first take the edge as x

so V1= x^3

Now reduce the edge to half

so new volume V2 will be as

V2= (x/2)^3

V2=x^3/8

If we compare V1 with V2

we can say that V2 = V1/8

means if we reduce the edge of cube by 1/2 the volume is reduced by 1/8th times.

I hope you will have no difficulty in understanding the answer.
