Melting point of solid is the force of attraction between the molecules of the solid.

Addition of the non volatile salt results in the decrease in the freezing point of water.

Therefore, the water freezes at a lower temperature and leads to the melting of the ice at a very fast rate within a very short time span.

HEY!!

______________________________

✔The melting point of ice will decrease is some common salt is added to it.

✔This is because addition of non- volatile solute(salt) causes a depression in the freezing point of water.

✔Due to this water freezes at a lower temperature and thus ice starts melting at a faster rate.
