if the edge of a cube is tripled the volume will become 27 times

if the edge of a cube is reduced to one fourth the volume will become reduced to one sixtyfourth

because volume  = edge * edge*edge

Volume of cube=a³

a)when edge(a) is tripled
=3a
volume=(3a)³
=27a³
27(a)³

It's volume is increased 27 times.

b)When the edge is reduced to 1/4
a/4
Volume=(a/4)³
a³/64

volume is reduced by 1/64 times.
