Heyy yaar ....

If a cell is placed in a hypertonic solution the cell gets plasmolysed or shrunk ...

Because hypertonic solution is a solution which has more concentration of solutes than which is present in the cell...

So cells lose water to the surrounding solution and therefore the cell gets shrunk

Hope this helps you :)

Answer:

If a cell is placed on hypertonic solution the cell has higher concentrarion than the cell, where cell has lower concentrarion. Thus the higher concentration goes to the lower concentrarion thus the cell loses its water, thus cell shrinks up.
