aluminum reacts vigrously with oxygen to form aluminum oxide.

when exposed to air, Aluminum (Al) with react with oxygen (O2) and a new layer will be formed aluminum oxide (Al2O3) this layer forms over the aluminum and protects the inner metal from further corrosion.

chemical reaction :-

4Al + 3O_{2} ---> 2Al_{2}O_{3}
