When bleaching powder reacts with dil. HCl to liberate Cl2 gas,water and Calcium Chloride . Bleaching powder is calcium oxychloride (CaOCl2), also called as chloride of lime. When bleaching powder is treated with an excess of dilute hydrochloric acid, all the chlorine present in it is liberated.
